¡Hola niños!

Parece mentira, pero ya hemos llegado a final de curso. Todos tenemos muchas ganas de vacaciones, incluida yo, pero me da mucha pena despedirme de vosotros. Ojalá pudiera quedarme para seguir disfrutando de nuestros inventos, de nuestras actividades de pronunciación (put that "e" in your pocket"),y de lo mucho que hacemos en clase.

Como ya os dije, el año que viene cambiaré probablemente de colegio, y tendréis una maestra nueva. Espero que la lleguéis a querer como me habéis querido a mí y que sigáis portándose tan bien y trabajando igual o más de lo que lo habéis hecho conmigo este curso.

Vosotros os lleváis un montón de aprendizaje, y yo me llevo un montón de cariño, y por qué no de cosas aprendidas, porque vosotros también me habéis enseñado muchas cosas, aunque no lo creáis.

Me habéis enseñado a que podéis hacer cualquier cosa que os propongáis, que podéis mejorar cada día y que mi profesión es la más bonita del mundo sólo por ver cómo crecéis y cómo avanzáis.

Gracias por dejarme inventar y experimentar con vosotros, por formar parte de todas nuestras aventuras y por hacerme disfrutar de cada hora que paso con vosotros.

Algunos de vosotros me recordarán por los cuadritos de gramática, otros por lo pesada que soy con la pronunciación, otros por mis riñas (que también tengo que echarlas) y otros por la teacher que tenía un blog y que hablaba inglés muy rápido, pero me conformo con que os quede dentro una semillita de todo lo que he intentado sembrar en vosotros este año.

Yo os recordaré como mis niños, los que me han enseñado que cualquier cosa puede hacerse con esfuerzo y ganas.

Os echaré muchísimo de menos.

When I asked them to prepare them, I didn't imagine they would do such wonderful videos!

Notice how professional they are and all the details they have included in their videos (the London Bridge, books about English,and the poster of the Spanish national football team (they wanted everyone to know we were the Champions of the World Cup in 2010...)

They're just amazing!

Hi! I'm excited about what I'm going to show you today.

My students finish school this month, and so we are revising all we've learned throughout the school year. It's been a long time since we started our 5th year, and when we started we didn't know how much we were going to learn!

As they are absolutely great at English, I decided my students should "teach" to other learners basic aspects about English grammar.

This is the first of a serie of videos my kids have recorded. I have to say that they've done them all by themselves, I just gave them a topic to talk about, and they prepared what they were going to say and how. They had lot of fun!

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I have to say thank you to all of them and to their parents for their patience and for letting me show these videos to all of you!

¡Hola! Estoy muy emocionada por lo que voy a enseñar hoy.

Mis alumnos acaban el cole este mes, y por lo tanto estamos revisando todo lo que hemos a lo largo del año. Hace mucho tiempo que empezamos 5º, pero cuando empezamos no sabíamos cuánto íbamos a aprender.

Como mis niños son geniales en inglés, decidí que podían "enseñar" a otros estudiantes aspectos básicos sobre la gramática inglesa.

Este es el primero de una serie de videos. Tengo que decir que los han hecho ellos solos, yo sólo les dije el tema a tratar, y ellos prepararon todo lo que iban a decir y cómo. ¡Se han divertido muchísimo!

Espero que lo disfrutéis tanto como yo. Tengo que dar las gracias a los padres por su colaboración y por dejarme enseñar los trabajos de sus hijos a todos vosotros.

GRAMMAR. PAST SIMPLE (REGULAR VERBS).

Remember!

To form the past simple of a verb we add -ed to the verb.

Invent-invented.
Work-worked.
Look-looked.
Play-played.

Rules:

- When a verb ends with consonant-vowel-consonant, we double the final consonant and add -ed.
(Cuando un verbo acaba en consonante-vocal-consonante, doblamos la última consonante y añadimos -ed).

Travel-travelled.

- When a verb ends with -e, we only add -d to form the past simple.
(Cuando un verbo acaba en -e, sólo añadimos -d para formar el pasado simple).

Dance-danced.

- When a verb ends with -y after a consonant, we change -y into -i and we add -ed.
(Cuando un verbo acaba en -y tras una consonante, cambiamos -y por -i y añadimos -ed).

El pueblo inglés (campamentos de verano)

¡Hola!

Niños, esta entrada me tenéis que permitir que la haga en español, ya que va dirigida a vosotros, pero sobre todo a vuestros papis y mamis.

Llega el verano y tenemos dos meses para descansar y pasarlo bien, pero ¿qué os parece si lo hacemos en un campamento inglés en el que aprenderemos a la vez que conoceremos gente nueva y nos lo pasaremos bien? Suena divertido, ¿verdad?

Bien, pues se presentan muchas posibilidades. En los próximos días os iré contando más en clase, pero como sé que sois un poco olvidadizos dejo por aquí la información así os podéis enterar de primera mano e informar a vuestros padres y madres.

- En la EUO (Escuela Universitaria de Osuna) han preparado un campamento de verano en el que los alumnos podrán participar en horario de mañana o tarde, según su edad y nivel.

En este campamento estarán acompañados y tutorizados por nativos de lengua inglesa, que junto a vuestros hijos realizarán múltiples actividades para practicar inglés (teatros, canciones, juegos, etc) y aprender sobre la cultura de los países de habla inglesa (en este caso de EE.UU).

DURACIÓN: Desde el 27 de Junio al 8 de Julio. Diez días, cada uno dedicado a una ciudad norteamericano (Chicago, Nueva York, Nueva Orleans, etc).

PRECIO: 100 euros por alumno (si se apuntan más de un alumno por familia, se hará un descuento de 25 euros a partir del segundo, es decir, dos niños por 175 euros en vez de 200). Merece la pena por 10 euros al día.

MATRÍCULA: del 8 al 31 de Mayo.

DOCUMENTACIÓN A ENTREGAR: Necesitan fotocopia del dni de padre/madre/tutor y fotocopia del libro de familia.

¡Diez días de diversión e inmersión lingüística sin salir de Osuna!

Comparative of adjectives (short and long adjectives)

Hi everyone!

In our class we are studying the comparative form of short and long adjectives.

Let's remember how to form it:

Short adjectives:

- We add -ER to the adjective, which must be followed by the particle "than".

Example: José Luís is taller than Carmen.

- When the adjective ends with CVC, we duplicate the final consonant and add -er to the adjective.

Example: Spain is bigGer than Portugal.

- When the adjective ends with "y", it becomes "i" and we add -er.

Example: Tom is happier than Hannah.

Long adjectives:

We add "more" before the adjective, followed by the particle "than".

Example: Lisa is more intelligent than Bart.

Hello kids!! A new school year started some days ago, and I've received my new pupils. I'm very happy with all of you, hope you like me, too.

As I told you, this year we're going to have fun, and above all, we're going to learn lots of new things.

This week we've been revising what we learnt last year, and also learning songs, like the one I left you here today, Sick of love.

History

Four hundred years ago, in 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and a group of plotters attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London with barrels of gunpowder placed in the basement. They wanted to kill King James and the king’s leaders.

Hace 400 años, en 1605, un hombre llamando Guy Fawkes y un grupo de conspiradores intentaron asaltar el Parlamento de Londres con barriles de pólvora situados en el sótano. Querían matar al rey James y a sus líderes.

Why did Guy Fawkes want to kill King James 1st and the king’s leaders?

¿Por qué quería Guy Fawkes matar al Rey James I y a sus líderes?

When Queen Elisabeth 1st took the throne of England she made some laws against the Roman Catholics. Guy Fawkes was one of a small group of Catholics who felt that the government was treating Roman Catholics unfairly. They hoped that King James 1st would change the laws, but he didn't.

Cuando la Reina Isabel I tomó el trono de Inglaterra hizo algunas leyes en contra de los católicos. Guy Fawkes fue uno del pequeño grupo de católicos existentes que sintieron que el gobierno los estaba tratando de forma injusta (en Inglaterra la iglesia predominante es la anglicana). Ellos esperaban que el Rey cambiara las leyes, pero no lo hizo.

Catholics had to practise their religion in secret. There were even fines for people who didn't attend the Protestant church on Sunday or on holy days. James lst passed more laws against the Catholics when he became king.

Los católicos tenían que practicar su religión en secreto. Habían incluso multas para las personas que no acudían a la iglesia Protestante los Domingos o los días festivos. James I aprobó más leyes contra los católicos cuando llegó a ser Rey.

What happened - the Gungpowder Plot

Lo que pasó. La conspiración.

A group of men led by Robert Catesby, plotted to kill King James and blow up the Houses of Parliament, the place where the laws that governed England were made.

Un grupo de hombres liderados por Robert Catesby, planearon matar al Rey James I y volar las casas del Parlamento, el lugar donde se elaboraban las leyes que regulaban el país.

Guy Fawkes was one the group of men

The plot was simple - the next time Parliament was opened by King James l, they would blow up everyone there with gunpowder. The men bought a house next door to the parliament building. The house had a cellar which went under the parliament building. They planned to put gunpowder under the house and blow up parliament and the king.
El plan era fácil. La próxima vez que el Parlamento se abriera por el rey James I, volarían todo con pólvora. Los hombres compraron la casa que estaba junto al Parlamento. Esa casa tenía un sótano que se comunicaba con la parte baja del Parlamento. Planeaban poner pólvora bajo la casa, volar el Parlamento y matar Rey.

Guy Fawkes Discovered

Guy Fawkes was given the job to keep watch over the barrels of gunpowder and to light the fuse. On the morning of 5^th November, soldiers discovered Guy hidden in the cellar and arrested him.

Guy Fawkes fue el encargado de vigilar los barriles de pólvora y encender la mecha. La mañana del 5 de Noviembre, los soldados lo descubrieron escondido en el sótano y lo detuvieron.

Guy Fawkes was taken to the Tower of London

He was tortured and questioned about the other plotters. To start with he didn't tell the soldiers anything about the plot. But, eventually he started to tell the truth.

A Celebration

In celebration of his survival, King James ordered that the people of England should have a great bonfire on the night on 5^th November.

Para celebrar que salvó su vida, el Rey James ordenó que la gente de Inglaterra encendieran una gran hoguera la noche del 5 de Noviembre.

The event is still commemorated annually in England on 5^th November by fireworks and burning guys (effigies) on bonfires.

El acontecimiento todavía se conmemora cada año en Inglaterra el 5 de Noviembre con una exhibición de fuegos artificiales y quemando pequeños muñecos que representan a Guy Fawkes en las hogueras.
